I just got this vacuum today as a b-day gift..I've been talking about it for months.
My initial reaction is, loving it! The engineering is top notch! And the quality is impressive! The canister's hose and telescoping wand are highly durable and resilient. The upright's cord comes out at the top in back of the handle instead of at the back of the motor head near the floor, where you would have to just clip it up at the handle anyway to keep it out of the way. I also love that the upright will lay down horizontally to get under furniture and be easily held for stairs.
The only thing I would suggest to improve it is this..since the bristles on the hand brush attachment are removable, it would be nice to have a second option (ie. have the standard bristles and provide another set of soft bristles as well).
All in all, this seems to be the best vacuum I have ever owned (and my vacuum is always very near and dear to me..friends have been known to refer to me as "Mister Munk").

I didn't want to spend a fortune on a vacuum but I also didn't want to throw away money on a piece of crap. I checked Consumer Reports and it pointed me to this model. Works as advertised although I would agree with other reviewers who mention it's probably not the best product for a bare floor. Then again, the agitators on every vacuum cleaner I've ever used shoot stuff away from the machine on bare floors before the vacuum picks up.

I was pleasantly surprised at how light the machine was. With the machine set on the lowest setting it almost seemed to move itself across the floor (although this means that you're working against it on the pull back!).

I'm still trying to find the best technique for step cleaning with this one. The 20-year-old vacuum cleaner this replaced had a nice edging feature. I'm probably going to have to break out more of the attachments to effectively clean the steps.

While I'm sure this would probably be true of any cleaner with attachments, I've been using the dusting attachment to clean duct grills and it's great! My old machine didn't have attachments so I use to do all this by hand. This one feature alone has saved me all kinds of time!

If I had it to do over I'd definitely buy this one again.

The 1st review is WRONG!
The previous 1st review of this vacuum is absolutely wrong and is probably referring to a different model. 1st of all, this model DOES NOT have a Hepa filter. So there is no way the door holding the filter on could be coming loose, since it doesn't exist. 2nd of all, this vacuum is surprisingly very light. And is probably the lightest vaccuum of it's size. Lastly, as of this date, this model is brand new, and has only been on the market for a few weeks, so there is no way anyone could have had it for a few months. Also, to get service on a Eureka vacuum under the warranty, you only need to take it to a authorized repair shop. There are many of these in most major cities.

I have only had this vacuum a few weeks, but it works well. It seems to be constructed well, and will hopefully last longer then my previous Eureka, which only went for 1 year, but this one seems to be constructed better. I especially like the auto height adjustment feature, and the fact that this vaccum is light and easy to maneuver. In my opinion it is a good buy for the price.

This vacuum is great. yes, the rewind feature is awesome but also the sheer sucking power of this vac will have you wonder why you ever sat on your carpet without cleaning it with this sucker fist.

The giant hair balls clogged the intake hose, but I just had to detach it and take the garden hose and blast out the clogs. New rule to live by: Do not let a dog into your house who's coat is in the "blow" stage.

I researched tons of vacuum before purchasing this one. I wanted the best I could get for around $ 100 This is the first time I've owned a bagless vacuum and I was a bit concerned that it would be messy to empty it. Turns out not to be a problem. Everything detach easily. If you were to open it over the garbage and shake it out, then some of the dust will fly around cause of the shaking. I just set it in a plastic bag, open, and lift it up and everything comes out in the mess free bag. The automatic cord rewind thing was not a selling point for me when I purchased it, but now I do not ever want to own a vacuum without it - it's so convenient. I gave it four stars only because it is a little bit heavy, but not too much to be a problem for me.

Superb Performance5
Having two different Eureka Optima's break within a six month period, I Figured it was a sign to maybe try a different make and model. Then I saw this and Hoover Figured I'd give it a try. I'll admit I was a little unsure at first because it was a little too big, especially for my apartment. But wow, was I surprised by it's performance and features. Setup was a breeze, took five minutes and a phillips screwdriver. The retractable cord is an awesome feature, but by far my favorite feature has to be how you release the dust cup. It's just common sense, but took forever for someone to realize "Hmmm, let's make it easy and prevent dirt going everywhere by having the cup release from the BOTTOM!" And you can do it one handed, with the flick of your thumb. Storage is the same as my old Optima, it's just a little taller, but I can tell this badboy is going to be around for a long long time. Five stars all the ways!

Customer Review: The Little Vac could! - Powerful and Lightweight

Purchase Requirements - Small - Easy - Powerful - Quiet - Long Pants

1). Small - when I first received my shipment, I was a little surprised. The box was 4'x2'x 1-1/2 ". Gosh was huge and a bit difficult (for VAC). Gradually, I have the package to find another field. A little easier, the size seemed a little more appropriate. I opened the box quickly to find another field. Now we are in conversation - if this box was opened, I saw what I wanted - a small, good looking, easy-VAC! The Stainless Steel has a professional VAC look.

2). Lightweight - definitely meets the bill. No larger in width and length as my keyboard, it is no problem about this VAC.

3) Performance - I do not have much of any claims (4 hp and 95 "of waterlift), but this small VAC took me a believer in power. This is the first time that I only for the use of splitting tool unfavorable for corners. These small pieces of fluff and hair, which is usually required, again with the fingers came up. The padding seems to be that with dust - clean!

4) Peaceful - my subjective opinion says that this machine is quiet for such a powerful vac. In fact, my IQAir Air Cleaner is louder. Turn the 2-speed switch with low (works much like my old shop VAC and speed), now it is quiet!

5.) Long Pants - The 6.5 foot hose, light and flexible to the class. It is sufficient for my purposes, but I can buy a hose extension.

CONS:

1). The dust bag is relatively small (approximately 7 "diameter by 5" deep) - that is to be expected in a tiny package.

2). Tools look and feel cheap, which is quite typical for all brands. However, they are effective.

I do heavy research on everything I buy. Here are my thoughts on buying this canister vacuum:

Impressions

The Bosch Formula BSG71370UC is amazing: high performance, solid construction, convenient design. Small/light enough to be portable, but large enough to have built in attachment storage and a high capacity bag system. Suction power is adjustable, providing two things. First, full power is to powerful for some surfaces (there are warnings in the manual). Second, running at normal/low power, the unit is quieter than a microwave oven and you think its not pulling well until you put your hand over the hose - yeow! First impression of the first use on carpet that got regularly vacuumed: "wow, its looks like its been washed!"

Attachments

This is the top of the formula line, including the turbo upholstery attachment. This draws energy from the airflow on the suction and transfers it to a scrubbing brush, with the sound of a turbo charger. This and all the attachments work like gang busters. The main carpet wand has a switch for turning the large scrubber's electric motor on/off (carpet/floors), and the suction with the crevice tool is so strong, nothing gets away. Even with the integrated motor, the head of this unit is low profile enough to fit in and around most furniture. The cord auto retracts, just give it a tug and let go. You can pull the canister itself behind you, the 3-360 wheels turn on a dime, but getting around objects still requires pull. With cleaning power combined with multiple filters, this is ideal for people with allergies.

Floors

It handles bare floors mightily, just flip the handle located power switch to off to stop the spinning brush. For complete area cleaning, the small brush attachment hits the baseboards and low walls. The units wheels, of course, handle even better.

Hair

My main use for this and the reason I bought this unit is cat hair, a job it handles well. With 2 sizes of scrubbing nozzles, no unattached hair can hide for long.

Parts

In the configuration for full carpet/floors, it comes apart in 3 sections, hose, tube/handle, and powered nozzle. All 3 require both hands to disconnect, one to squeeze the release mechanism and the other to pull. One of the extra's on this unit is that the power wires for the motorized head are integrated into the tubes/hoses. This makes for quick dis/connects.

Negatives

1) The hose is supposed to spin 360 degrees to avoid tangles but doesn't spin freely enough to work without thought. 2) I like responsive switches. The power switch has a lag time, designed to be used by feet so you have to hold a moment to turn it on and off. 3) Price is high, but abcvacuum.com cuts right through this.

Surprise Use

Dust Buster replacement: Leaving it parked and plugged in, full time behind the sofa my cat frequents. Its so quiet on low, the bits moving down the pipe make more noise than the motor.

Long Term Update

Having it for many months now, here's what else I've learned. The bag full gauge is tough to read, so the easiest way to tell the bag needs changing is that suction goes down - ie when you find yourself using full power. The turbo attachment isn't much more powerful than the standard small nozzle nor as powerful as the electric nozzle. So provided its clean, the floor/carpet electric nozzle cleans upholstery with gusto, leaving the turbo nozzle doing just the hard to reach places. And last but not least, a WONDERFUL way to clean stairs is by connecting the electric power floor/carpet nozzle directly to the wand, leaving the extension tube off.

Customer Review: Good For the Price, but Missing Old Eureka Terribly

We finally had to lay our 30-yr-old Eureka canister vac to rest. This is what we got to replace it, and I can give it four stars for price and basic use. However, I long for the way they used to make them. This would be perfect if it was metal and had a better "swiverable" hose, like the old Eureka canisters. This also has several "tiny" attachments that are barely usable. I would have settled for two normal sized ones that would function normally. I just wish they made them like they used to. I guess the lightweight is somewhat of a plus, but I have a feeling this isn't going to last me 30 years like my parents' hand-me-down did.

Customer Review: It really Sucks

It's relatively quiet and has good suction, but I'm sure this is the worst investment we've ever made. I thought for $500 this would be a quality product. After the third or forth use, the flimsy accessory compartment door wouldn't stay closed. When we pick the vacuum cleaner up, this flimsy door swings open and the attachments fall out. Then, the second time we changed the bag, one of the weak plastic hinges that hold the blue plastic canister cover broke off. Now when we go to change the bag, the top of the canister cover hangs by one hinge and we must carefully position it back in place to close it. We've only owned this vacuum cleaner for four months and we've treated it gently! It's still under warranty, but we haven't yet been able to find out how to get it serviced under the warranty. Needless to say, we are very disappointed in the poor quality of this product. Any $75 canister vacuum cleaner would be far better quality. The people who have written good reviews here will soon find out that this vacuum cleaner will fall apart

Customer Review: very quiet German product

We ordered this vacuum after seeing one a friend had that impressed us with how very QUIET it was when operating. It is pricey, but is like a BMW of vacuums with high quality German engineering. You can almost have a conversation while vacuuming, it is that quiet. Customer Review: Miele S5280 Pisces- great for hardwood/tile, not great for carpet or lots of rugs

I have used this vacuum for 8 months now and I love it. My house is 1200 square feet and all tile throughout. I have two dogs; one is non shed, and one is a light shedder. The parquet floor attachment is awesome at picking up all dog hair, dust and debris and it turns and angles easily into tight spaces and around corners. This canister vaccuum is very light and easy to pull around the house. I do wish the electrical cord was longer. I don't like the turbo brush at all; I use it on my 5 x 7, non wool, carpet type rug; it does clean the rug, but is very difficult to push on the rug and hair gets caught in the brush easily. If you have carpet or lots of rugs there are other Miele vacuums to choose from which have different carpet/floor attachments, but also include the parquet brush for tile. For me, the Miele suits my needs; definetly keeps the tile floors clean. The suction on the vacuum is very good and the parquet floor brush has a nice large surface area. It doesn't scratch the tile. I imagine it would work just as well on travertine or wood floors. A few times a year I look after a large, heavy shedding dog; I vacuum every day when she's here and the Miele Pisces pick up all of her hair easily. Highly recommend if you have mostly or all tile/hardwood floors. I used to have a Kenmore Progressive canister vacuum; I would use the little hardwood floor attachment on it. I enjoy the Miele so much more and I feel it keeps the house way cleaner and is easier to use.

Customer Review: expensive junk

The vac is fairly quiet and small, but those are about the only positive items. It is very weak, the cord short and falls out of sockets, bad on/off switch, and blows hot air at the user. The attachments are useless and non-standard size so old ones won't fit. I've had it less than a year and am looking for a replacement which works on my hard floors.

My fiance gave me this vacuum cleaner. He didn't use it so he let me have it. I had it for I would say less than a year. It worked pretty good....before it died. It picked up all the junk on the floor except it had a hard time picking up hair. It would just roll it into a bunch so I had to pick it up myself. But it did a good job sucking up the dust and dog dander. I like the fact that it was bagless ( no doggy odor) Usually when you use the ones with the bags the minute you turned it on you would smell DOG!!! It was a great little vacuum.. only problem that I did not like was I prefer my vacuum cleaners to be upright... not like HANDY DANDY VACUUM CLEANERS!!. They're alot easier on your back when they're upright as opposed to this kind.

I purchased this vacumm, complete with power brush unit, about two and half months ago, and it is by far one of the best purchases I have made in a long time. This vacuum has attitude, period! It's powerful, two speed motor allows flexibility no matter if you need to clean floors and carpets or upholstery and drapes. The stainless steel canister is very sleek and all the trim and accessories with it are quality. For the power that it renders, it is not at all overly noisy and the dogs don't seem to go into attack mode as soon as I turn it on. Having multiple pets, I am particularly pleased at how pet hair is no obstacle for this vacuum. Be aware though that this is not your typical vacumm by "design." There are two things you may find to be a awkward. One, there is no retractable power cord feature on the unit so you must hand wind it yourself and hang the cord up on a hook in the closet or where ever you store your vacumm. There is also no on-board storage for the accessories. Second, the vacuum bag is rather small. So if you are doing a full once over of say a 2,500 square foot home, you may have to empty the bag by the end of that cleaning cycle, especially if you have pet hair to contend with. The good news is that the bags are readily available and reasonably priced. I have already dealt with the company in New York who manufactures the vacuum and they were both helpful and timely in sending me a large quantity of bags. Overall, I expect to have a very long and harmonious relationship with "Sylvia," as it has been named in our family.

This vacuum by far is the best vacuum I have ever owned for under $349. The suction power is bar none the best I have ever utilized and could not believe the amount of dirt I suctioned up out of my carpet fibers. I previously owned the Kenmore Guacomole and Torchlite and neither could come close to the quality and power of this one. I have a buhdist palm statue and this vacuum lifted it off the floor! I have found that bags were hard to find but found an online vendor at reasonable prices. Also the hepa filter is pricy but I substituted with a hepa filter from home depot and cut to size to save big money!!! The attachments work great on unit and my favorite one is the crevice tool for couches and chairs.(My roomate has a dog and it picks up the hair great. The only thing I wish I would have done was to have bought it through amazon. I could have saved over a $100. Highly reccomend for Chicago High Rise condo living as it is also very quiet unit and will not disturb roomates or neighbors.

Customer Review: Awesome machine; will probably outlast most marriages

After becoming extremely frustrated at buying "disposable" vacuums year after year and tired of putting cheap junk in the landfills, it came down to buying this machine or a Dyson. After doing pretty intensive research, we settled on this machine from a local vacuum shop that repairs. The reason we didn't go with the Dyson is as follows:

1) Finding a place to repair a Dyson is very very difficult. We did not want to have to send it back and pay through the nose (minimum of 131. to change a belt on the 15 and 17 models) There are three shops within 10 mile of my Los Angeles area house that can repair a Miele should it need it. Plus, poor reviews from a significant number of friends that loved it at first, then a few years out had serious issues after medium residential use. (Also, we did talk to two repair persons who absolutely hate the machines and want nothing to do with them)

2) A canister is much easier to control, and very light. The airflow measurement CFM on a Dyson is around 90. The CFM on this machine is 140; so almost 50 percent more. Of course, the price reflects the difference.

3) The build quality is superior on the Miele, the parts lock together beautifully, and it's very easy to use. The Dyson seems cheaply put together, and is awkward to move around. My house is mostly hardwood and area carpets, so much easier to use the canister.

4) I have three cats and a dog. (2 with long hair.) After a pass with my friends Dyson which I used to try it out, it did pick up but was difficult on bare wood and I have to make several passes. The Miele did it first time, every time.

5) The noise level on the Dyson is very loud. It is almost silent on the Miele in comparison. My cat didn't even flinch when I used it the first time. The difference in performance was like a Mercedes compared to a Yugo. (shame I can't afford a real Mercedes!) German engineering at it's finest in this machine.
All and all, it's hard to justify spending this kind of money on a vacuum cleaner. However, I have talked with other Miele owners and they have had very good luck with this machine. It is very well built and the powerhead will immediately shut down if something becomes caught in the roller bar, avoiding and overheating situation.
As others have mentioned, it also cleans the air. My sinuses have benefitted greatly; and it must have something to do with this machine.
Also, the review for this machine is the same as the Capricorn. They have the same insides, the controls are just different. The controls on the Aquarius are on the machine body and are operated with your foot, very simple. The model one notch below has a rotary dial that you have to bend over to operate, the Capricorn has them in the handle. (and what a nice handle I must add!). So, the cost goes up in increments of 100 depending on the controls.
I am very pleased, and figure the price will be made up on constant replacements even if the machine only lasts 10 years. Although it is plastic, it is ABS plastic, the wand is metal, and it is very rugged. I miss the old metal machines my parents had, but alas, only time will tell if you can get 30 or more years out of Miele like the old Electrolux company ones. These machines are designed to last 20 or more years.

Customer Review: Great BUT

I can understand why people loves these machines. They are so quiet, and they are light. However, there are a couple of design flaws that drag down their usefulness, especially when you factor in the high price:

1) The SEB 213 powerbrush that comes with this model works awkwardly with carpets. We have a couple of short-piled ones, and it's a push to use the powerbrush. I can do it, but don't especially like it. If we had high-pile carpets, I doubt we could use this vacuum.

2)Furthermore, this powerbrush is quite difficult to remove and reassemble. The big problem lies in the connector cord that plugs into the handle.It's a struggle to get it out and even harder to get it back in. If you remove the head to suck up dirt along the edges, you have to go through this struggle a lot.
We have found that we no longer use the powerbrush at all. We just use the "floorbrush" on both carpet and bare floors. While it is even a bit harder to use on our carpets than the powerbrush, the struggle to attach/detach the powerbrush makes it worthwhile to stick to the plain brush.
For anyone with a lot of carpets, this is not the vacuum to get. For someone like us with mostly hard floors, I would NOT get this model. I think were I to do it all over again, I'd get the Miele model 4210 Carina which comes with a simpler floor brush and save about $150. If you want HEPA filters, there's the 4210 Sirius for a bit more money. Or look up Consumer Reports' recommended Sears model and get one of those.

Customer Review: Easy to use, powerful yet very quiet

I recently purchased the Bosch Formula vacuum to use on my condo's hardwood floors. Previously, I was using a much smaller vacuum that required me to stoop over and cover a lot more ground. The Formula is great, even though you have a cannister to move around, since you don't have to bend over. The vacuum arm is extendable and quite long. It's also very easy to maneuver with a slight twist to the left or right to move around corners. The cannister itself is pretty small and lightweight. It has a lever that you can move up and down to make it quieter. It is so much more quiet than the other small vacuum I was using that I can even vacuum late at night without worrying about the noise. Overall, this is a great vacuum if you have a small space.

Customer Review: Best lil vac for studio apt. w/ hard floors

Bottom Line: this unit is essentially the Lexus of small compact vacuums and functions beautifully on hard wood floors.
I spent months searching for the best unit for my studio apartment. I have a couple of 3x5 wool rugs and the rest hard flooring and had previously relied on a cheap and noisy Eureka broom vac. I decided it was time to invest in a quality unit. Ultimately, i chose between the Electrolux Harmony and the Bosch Compact Hard Floor. I am very pleased i chose the Bosch. The vacuum bag replacements are also sold at Ebay. If you buy a few packages (5 in a pack) at once and stock up you can get the cost down to $5 -7 per package (fairly inexpensive) and i haven't had to change the bag once yet in six months (I do not use it very frequently, once every 2 weeks on avergage :0 )
The adjustable suction is very powerful (but not overpowering)even on the lowest setting and once you purchase a dusting brush (sold separately at Bosch and other websites) hard to reach dust, dirt or (dry)spills will be no match for the compact plus. The vacuum is relatively light weight, highly maneuverable, and a practically designed piece of equiptment. One minor gripe is that I do wish all the wheels had 360 rotation but it is unlikley that you can find that added convenience/ maneuverability at this price point anywhere.
I sometimes purposely leave it out on top of a dresser in hopes that my lazy buns will be more inspired to use it -if i see it is out in the open -handy to grab and put to use on the fly. In any case, the compact design eliminates storage hassles, fitting the Bosch Compact Floor vac easily into shorter cubbies and shelves rather than requiring valuable closet space.
Prices for this vacuum vary widely by retailer so be sure to look around. I used Pricegrabber and found a vendor who offered it at $230.00. I have had it for almost a year but my 5th Gen Roomba seems to get more play these days... still i couldn't live as comfortably without my Bosch which goes where my Roomba can't go! They are certainly MY little cleaning dream team!
If you are looking for one of the best possible picks for hard wood floor cleaning, waste no more time and get a Bosch Compact Hard Floor: i bet you'll be singing its praises too. My only regret is wasting money on cheapy, noisy units that break after a year or two. This is seriously the Real McCoy when it comes to hard floor vacuums, it just doesn't get much better than this at this price range.
Performance, quiet operation and well conceived design can all be favorably compared to the Miele compact unit produced by another German manufacturer and costing much more money.

Customer Review: Pretty good, could be improved

We've had this for a couple of months. It is very powerful, quiet, and light weight. However, compared to our last vacuum, a Kenmore canister, I see a few ways the Kenmore was easier to use. First, with the Kenmore, the hose could rotate 360 degrees where it attaches to the canister. With the Miele, the power cord gets wrapped around the hose, so if you rotated too much it binds, and puts stress on the cord. Second, the Kenmore power button is on the handle, but with the Miele you have to go back to the canister. This is awkward if you want to shut down the vac quickly.

This is by far the best vacuum I've ever used. The suction is fantastic, it's ridiculously easy to clean and empty, and it doesn't kick up a lot of dust.
The agitator is perfect for relatively short carpets. It's nonadjustable, however, so it'll chew up thin carpets and do nothing on shag.

I had a shark canister that lasted 7 years. It recently broke and I bought this model as a replacement. I was very impressed with the design and power. I was so impressed that for Mother's Day I bought one for my mom for Mother's Day. I made the mistake of reading the reviews AFTER I purchased the one for my mom. I was so upset at the reviews that bags were hard to come by that I canceled the order for my mom and went online to see if I would have a problem finding bags for my canister. I went right to Shark and placed an online order for two sets of bags on May 6th. I received the order today May 15!!!

I vacuumed up a broken light bulb one evening.

Next day, I noticed broken glass underneath the vacuum

in the closet where I'd stored it.

Also, the plastic exhaust/vent cover is not rigid enough to stay well

attached. As a result, my leg gets blasted by the exhaust (and dust, presumably) as it bypasses the vent.

Price is cheap $50, so I wasn't expecting much. But this little vac delivered even less. I am returning it after just a couple weeks.
I will try the Eureka 3670G, which I am hoping is similar to my old Mighty Mite (which was a great, cheap little vacuum).

I fell in love with this vacuum the moment I started using it. It was quiet, it maneuvered beautifully, and it picked virtually everything up. I felt uneasy buying such an expensive vacuum when my kenmore worked fine, but after using it, I thought, FINALLY, something for my money's worth. Well, 5 months later, the vacuum started losing suction and the power bar kept going to its lowest setting on its own. I changed the dust bag, thinking it was full (even though the dust bag indicator hadn't turned on, being one of its features), but the same problem. Then I thought it was the battery, so I opened the battery compartment, only to see that it was one of those tiny round batteries you'd have to buy especially for the vacuum. Going back to the operating manual, I read that I only had to change the battery once every 18 months, so I tried to close the battery compartment back up.,..to no avail. It just wouldn't close back properly! My husband tried to push the compartment back in, but even he couldn't do it. With a half-closed battery compartment, I called the Miele # on the manual. The closest local dealer is about an hour away, and it's not like they'd fix it on the spot. I'd have to drop it off, then pick it up. Packing the vacuum back up to ship it to the warranty center is going to take too long. I'd be without a vacuum cleaner for God knows how long???!!! I have 3 toddlers and 1 baby, and frankly, this is ridiculous. I can't believe I paid so much money for only 5 months of use.

We were very impressed with the cleaning ability of this vacuum cleaner, especially for a price of under $200. If you are looking to not spend a lot on a canister vacuum, this should be one of the highest machines on your list.
The Sanyo SC-S700P is a light weight canister, that comes with an electric power nozzle for cleaning rugs and carpets. The machine also includes a variable speed motor control, which allows you to adjust how much suction power you want to clean with. This is ideal when cleaning delicate oriental rugs, delicate cleaning, or even your drapes!
With a full 12 amp motor, this machine provides plenty of suction power for cleaning even the most embedded dirt and dust. The internal wiring of the power nozzle makes removing the hose to clean upholstery and stairs, or using the attachments a breeze! There are no wires to unplug.
When changing from carpet to bare surface floors, you simply have to step on a switch on the power nozzle, that turns the roller brushes off. There is no switching of attachments to go from bare floor to carpets, saving you a lot of time.
The machine however does not have the greatest quality of electrical parts. The motor is a very loud motor, that should not be expected to last more then 5-7 years. The filtration on the Sanyo SC-S700P is also very poor. With no HEPA Filtration option, this machine should be avoided by any house with allergies or breathing issues. Also the cord at only 17ft, will leave you having to unplug the vacuum, and find another plug pretty frequently.
This machine is great if you are looking to spend under $200 for a canister vacuum with a power nozzle, there is nothing close in the same price range. As long as you know, you will get what you pay for, and the vacuum will not last you forever, The Sanyo machine is right for you.

Customer Review: Poor Vacuum

I purchased this vacuum based on the very positive reviews. However, I am sorry I bought it for the following reasons. There is a suction control on the top that is a real joke. Even with it turned up all the way, I find that it won't suck up many of the little crumbs on the kitchen floor unless the center of the floor attachment is directly centered over the crumb. If it is at one of the edges of the attachment, it usually doesn't get sucked up. I end up taking off the attachment and using the bare hose end to get thing sucked up
The next annoyance is the short cord. I have to constantly keep pluging it into a closer receptacle even in the same room.
And speaking of the cord, after only a few months of use, the cord no longer retracts and I can see no way to get into the mechanism to unstick it or whatever to fix it.
The vacuum does not turn a corner very well and usually ends up turned over on its side when pulled at an angle.
Anyhow, the short of it is that it has a VERY POOR suction and this is my main gripe with the vacuum. I think I will go back to the tried and true Sears vacuum which does have great suction.

Customer Review: Great Compact Canister, Works Well for Stairs, Furniture, and Bare Floors

The Bosch 2100UC is a very nice compact canister. The machine has a tremendous amount of suction for a small compact canister. It is very lightweight, only 9.5lbs. and like most German vacuums, it is very quiet. This German made vacuum is designed for bare floors, stairs, and quick easy pick ups. It has a variable speed motor control that allows cleaning of delicates like curtains and drapes. The variable speed motor will also allow to clean oriental rugs, without the stradling, and fighting with the rug.
Filtration wise, the Bosch 2100UC comes with a micro scan filter that stops all of the mircoscopic dust particles that cause allergy suffers, and asthmatics to have problems breathing. HEPA filtration is available as an upgrade. The Bosch genuine type G bag is an excellent quality bag, that is above average in keeping the dust inside the bag, instead of going through the motor, which Bosch provides a 5 year warranty on.
The negatives to this machine are; The 2100UC only comes with a combination tool, which doesn't do well at all on wall to wall carpeting. It is really only designed to clean bare floors, or just a few oriental rugs, with no pet hair. The cord is rather short at only 17 feet, causing you to have to switch outlets for larger areas. The vacuum only comes with a crevice tool, and upholstery brush, with no dusting brush.

Customer Review: Good unless it stops working

I bought this vacuum last year and yes, it was the vacuum of my dreams. Easy to use and very effective. BUT I made the mistake of leaving it plugged in overnight. I came home from work to find that it had stopped working. I realized that it is not made by Electorlux but by Eureka and got it to the correct repair shop, where it has been for the last 3 months. Seems they are still waiting for a part.

What I was told is NOT to leave these plugged in. There is a product defect in the power wand that caused these to short out.

Think hard before choosing this vacuum.

This is just like the one my mother had when I was young. The floating on air feature works really great. I have a disability that makes vacuumming difficult at times. This moves easily and if it accidentally bumps my ankles, it doesn't even hurt. For me that matters a lot. I purchased this vacuum over a year-and-half ago and have hated it from the start. The first problem is that it has very limited suction strength - it might pick up a penny (as others claim), but often it won't pick up a stray piece of lint (no matter how many times I try)...and it leaves so much HAIR behind that I have to follow up with an adhesive lint brush!!! (And since I have long hair, there are always stray hairs around the house, no matter what I do). Also, this vacuum has such a small cleaning path!!! And the hose detaches from the wand on a regular basis - and to top it all off, I have found using a canister vacuum to be very inconvenient. This is very powerful small vacuum cleaner recommended to anyone with hard floors.

It is so silent that person in the next room might not realize you are vacuuming. It has variable suction settings. On the carpet it does OK job, but I have really small carpet area in the house.

Customer Review: Great machine; note that no basic floor tool included

The vacuum itself is lightweight, has great power and is amazingly quiet for its performance. Note that "NOW INCLUDES: SBB300-3 Parquet Floor Tool" is misleading since that's the *only* floor tool included. That tool works great on bare floors, but it doesn't work at all for carpets.
At this writing, if you purchase this machine and have carpets, you'll also have to purchase a floor tool that works with carpets. I ended up buying the optional turbo brush (an extra $120+) which works amazingly well for a non-electronic brush, but it wasn't a cost I had planned on. You could also get the general purpose floor tool for less that works with carpets and bare floors. After the purchase I checked other dealers who sell this model, and they state it only comes with the parquet floor tool. It would be helpful if the Amazon product description made this clear as well.

I love this vac! It is the second one that i have owned. The first one died after 12 years. And the best price was at Amazon. Downsides would be the bags are small so they have to be changed often.

But this vac picks up cat hair, dog hair and stray litter pebbles. the attachments work great for the furniture and the fact that it becomes a handheld makes it easy to do the stairs. (so my husband tells me!)

Customer Review: THIS THING IS THE REAL DEAL.

Unlike many of the other vacuums on the market which are made of cheap plastic and designed to last only a couple of years, this vacuum is very well engineered and put together. They use much better polymers in their parts and the whole thing is clearly well built. It's more expensive than others but worth every penny. I actually like vacuuming now! It's sooooo quiet compared to others I've heard and the sound it does make is much more pleasing that the high pitched noise usually heard. What an improvement from the $500 Electrolux we used to have. I can actually hear the stereo playing now when I work.
One of the best features of this vac is the head for hard floors. It has a ball joint on it that allows you to control the head as if it were your own hand at the end of the wand. You've really got to try it to believe it. Before you shell out money for any other vac, you've got to make it to a dealer and give it a try. I walked into the dealer thinking I wanted a Riccar or a Sebo or a Dyson, or maybe one of the better Hoovers, but was totally convinced after just 5 minutes with the Miele.
I negociated with a local dealer and was able to get the larger carpet head instead of the smaller one that usually comes with this model for the same price ($800). Some people may prefer the smaller head to get into smaller spaces, but I liked the bigger one as it's more substancial and covers more area in one pass.
Either way, you will ***LOVE*** this machine.

I have always said to my kids: "You will always pay more for the best." This is true for the Miele vacuum. Unfortunately, we didn't always follow that credo with our vacuum cleaners. We have owned: Kirby, the Original Electrolux, Rainbow (what a joke), and several newer Kenmore's and a Dyson which is still the best sweeper on the market.
But the Miele is by far the best canister vacuum on the market, bar none. Some off the reviewers have said that it is not a complete vacuum meaning that it does not come complete with a beater brush which its does not. You will have to purchase it separately at approximately $120. It is also NOT an electric beater brush but one that operates off of the vacuum from the vacuum's line. Even then, the Miele is still the best canister vacuum out there.
If you have a lot of rugs, then this model is not for you. You will need to purchase one with an electric beater brush and that system will definitely set you back some cash; is it worth it? Heck yes it is.
We have about 80% hard floors (ceramic, wood) the rest is rugs or throw rugs. The beater brush is plenty for what we have.
The disposables are also pricey, but last forever and you will not smell or see dust after you vacuum your dusty house.
We also purchased one of the accessory sets when we bought the unit. They work well on small projects like:auto's, blinds and smaller items like computer keyboards, pet cages and refrigeration coils. The kits are well worth the money and come in a nice carry case.
The other great thing is that the unit is incredibly light and pulls very easy even on carpet. And at 1200 watts, it is offering the most power output you can get out of a 110 volt circuit.
I can't promise that a Miele vacuum will be the last one you'll every purchase, but it will come close.
Cons: the power cord can sometimes be too short in some situations, much shorter than the Dyson which can almost reach next door to your neighbors house.

Cool in theory, but dumb in real life
Like others, we had one of these when I was a kid. It was fun to play with but miserable for vacuuming.
Its suction is not impressive--too much of that 12 amps go into keeping the thing aloft (and scattering dust).
Worse, the hovercraft action only works well on a perfectly flat (and preferably hard) floor. Too easily, the base gets hung up on any change of level--tile-to-carpet, wood-to-rug, its own cord--and, as often as not, the machine tips over. You either have to go back and free or right the thing, or--out of exasperation--drag it across the floor on its side. It isn't especially good about moving around furniture and gets hung up or tips over, which is especially annoying in small rooms.
There's a good reason this design never took off.

Why I bought this:

Our past vacuums have been upright loud, heavy, cheap hoovers. We basically hated vacuuming with it. This was an upgrade in a sense for us (refurbished electrolux cost = new hoover cost). Overall pleased, but could be better.

Why I'm happy after the purchase:

-Lightweight handle

-Powerful vacuum

-Relatively quiet (quieter than the hoover upright for sure)

-Retractable cord works well

-Works so well we went from vacuuming every other week with our old heavy hoover uprights to vacuuming every other day with this electrolux oxygen canister vacuum

-Price versus new or other comparable "upscale" canister vacuums

Why I'm not happy after buying it:

-Ours definitely looked used or "refurbished". Scratch marks in several places.

-Difficult to disattach handle from carpet attachment. It requires stepping on a plastic piece to "push" the metal button in and release the carpet attachment. I can easily foresee that eventually down the line, this is going to break.

-Only the carpet attachment attaches securely via the metal button. All the other attachments do not.

-Carpet attachment only rotates one way

-You can only store 3 of the 4 extra attachments on the canister. One attachment will always be loose and w/o a home.

-Requires bags

Holy semi-sweet canister, Batman - mostly better than my Dyson!

So I have a 5+ y.o. Dyson animal. It makes dh very angry that it has lost suction. B/c I have good reason to believe he is either 1) going to smash it or 2) send it to get looked at, I bought this to live upstairs for the inevitable day the dyson disappears. So be warned, I am directly comparing it to the dyson which DID lose suction.

Pros:
-Removable canister - hello! Awesome for the cars and stairs - a 15 amp portable, unheard of!

-Woopidy doo - the rollers can be turned off at the touch of an easily accessible button (better for hardwood)

- all the attachments, like, attach to the vac (serious pet peeve of mine with the dyson)

- headlight (I like the feature, but doubt it is actually useful)

- very low profile in the front (e.g. it actually slides under my footboard without me having to Atlas to heave it up).

- Acceptable suction (it picked up way more than the ailing dyson)

- 3 filters

- Filter cleanliness indicator for upper replaceable filter

- canister sucks the dirt to the side, which seems to limit it getting in to the upper (non-washable) filter

-Price - it is a bargain seeing as it is worth 1 vacuum + 1 hand vac

Cons:

-What! Small, small canister - seriously I though the whole front was the canister, but it is TINY (like 1/3 of the Dyson's size) -1 star for this

- I dislike that the canister is open when you pull it out, the dyson's closed system is a much, much better design

- a little worried that the 3 prongs the lift-off canister attaches to may be damaged easily

- Color - I like my crazy green and purple color scheme

- weight - I think it is okay seeing as I am going to use it upstairs, and remove the canister for the stairs, and keep the dyson to do the downstairs, but I would be mighty irritated at hauling this sucker (pun intended) up and down the stairs.

-After doing my bedroom (and not filling up the canister 100%) there was already some dust visible in the upper filter. That's worrisome.

Machine does NOT suck!

And I do mean that in a negative way.
This is the animal hair Dyson, and on bare floors, it won't even pick up dust, much less cat hair. I am very disappointed. I have "troubleshot" everything, and there is just no sucking power for this machine. I might as well get out my old corn broom and sweep.
Most people gripe about the engineering and design of this model. Well, I would not care if it looked like it was designed by Rube Goldberg. I expect it to suck up a segment of a small dried leaf. Zippo. Nadda.
Stay away from this machine. I have no more time to waste to figure out why it will not do what it says it is supposed to do.

I am thrilled with the Miele system. The bags caught most, if not all (hey I don't have a microscope) of my dust, dust mites and their and my blech. I live in Oregon, land of 24/7 365 moisture. So dust mites love it here. And I happen to live in a valley... grass grass pollen pollen. I also have a cat that loves to quite literally roll around in the dirt. After testing a Miele Aquarius on my entire carpeted apartment, it was a no brainer to get a Miele. The first night I had my loaner from a friend I thoroughly cleaned my bedroom and that night I slept better. In the morning instead of going through a dozen or more tissues I just needed one. I also did not have to blow my nose in the middle of the night. I already have an amazing non-toxic mattress that the mites can't live in so I knew the problem was carpet, dust and moisture related. I ended up with the Gemini Miele as I don't need the Automatic (extra function) of the Aquarius. I did want the backlit knob indicator which is why I went with the Gemini over the Callisto. I purchased through Witbecks and they have been amazing in service and I would definitely buy from them again.

ps People, if you have allergies... look at your laundry detergent too.... I am simply flabbergasted how many people say they have allergies and use scented detergent, fabric softener, and dryer sheets!!!!!! That synthetic fragrance is definitely exacerbating any allergies you may have. That includes any 'plug-ins' or the like. Those products are actually quite toxic over time, they damage your olfactory senses (nose) and pollute the air, not freshen it.

great vacuum awesome suction power

this is, by far, one of the best canister vacs I have ever owned. I love the ergonomic handle. I am tall and this handle makes for great ease of use. It has the 12 amp suction power and it shows. I also love how easy this vac 's canister is to empty. One of the easist hepas around. I have dust mite allergies so i really appreciate the ease of cleaning this vac. It even comes with it's own little brush to help clear the filter.

There seems to be some confusion about the name, I've seen this advertised as both "Mighty Mite" and "The Boss" and the manufacture listed as either Electrolux and Eureka (interchangeable companies). The model number I am reviewing is the 3670G. Regardless of the name, I really like this vacuum cleaner.
We recently purchased a Hoover bagless vacuum, and I was less than excited about the suction of the extension wand and attachments. This plus the fact that we are soon getting rid of a lot of carpeting in our house and I wanted to get something more suitable for hardwood.
This is a powerful, but relatively quiet little machine. Fairly basic, but with all the necessary tools. The hose is long enough to reach the ceiling without effort. It's also removable and can be attached to the back of the machine to create a blower (not a very powerful blower, but a blower nonetheless). The suction is adjustable and far superior to that of an upright with attachments, which is exactly what I wanted. Works very well on bare floor and carpet too. Note, this does not have a beater bar, and don't think it was really designed for carpet only. So, it is not going to take dog hair, for instance, out of a carpet as well as a regular upright. For the purpose I need it for, it is wonderful.
My only complaint is the cord, which is stored/wrapped on the bottom of the machine. I find this location to be quite inconvenient, but since the tools are stored in the back, and there is a handle on top, I guess this was the only location left.
I am very happy with this vac and would recommend to anyone.

Customer Review: Mediocre after a year's use

This vacuum is great when it is new - powerful suction and great flexibility, switching easily from wood floors, tile and carpet. The tool storage on the handle is not very convenient, but that is not a deal breaker.

My mother and I each bought a Duros canister vacuum 2 years ago. Her Duros died after one year, when the hose couping broke and the repair shop told her not to bother fixing it. Mine is still working decently, but the suction quality has declined appreciably and the noise has increased appreciably. It's just not as great anymore.
For the price, it is isn't a bad purchase, but I would not buy this vacuum again.

Customer Review: Great vacuum for great price!!!!!

I started with an Electrolux over 30 years ago and moved on to Rainbow about 15 years ago. My first Rainbow was wonderful and I finally traded it in for a new Rainbow 5 years ago. It is a piece of junk! It is totally falling apart and there are no service centers in my current area. It's very heavy and cumbersome and not easily maneuvered. So I set out to find a new vacuum that wouldn't cost me a year's wages and would be easy to handle. I searched Amazon and read all the reviews and settled on this Panasonic. It arrived and I had it out of the box and put together in 10 minutes. It's surprisingly lightweight, but sturdy and it has substance. The 360 degree swivel is marvelous and makes a huge difference in maneuvering. I used to have to wear "shoes" to vacuum in or the Rainbow would kill my toes and smash my feet. This Panasonic is so easy to handle and so much lighter that I can wear my flip flops and not kill my toes. The attachments are contained in the body of the vacuum and that's so handy. The electrical cord is self winding...again, this beats Rainbow all out. The power nozzle is marvelous, and guess what? It is 100 times quieter than a Rainbow...my dogs did not run for the hills when I turned it on. OMG! I should have dumped the Rainbow a long time ago, especially when you compare pricing. I have 3 dogs and I vacuum a lot so even if this vacuum doesn't last more than a year or two, it is still more cost effective than a overpriced Rainbow. I highly recommend this Panasonic and I am so glad I purchased it. Now I don't dread vacuuming the way I used to. Happy cleaning!

Customer Review: don' bother with this one

I purchased this vaccuum because the reviews were so good and I wanted a canister vac. Well- the attachment for rug cleaning is a pain to put on and change when you have to go back and forth from rug to floors. And it doesn't work that well, I can't push it forward so I have to pick it up and then drag it backwards on the rug. So, no I use the floor attachment on the rugs because it's easier but doesn't have much suction power on rugs. And the whole thing isn't quite as light as I expected for tugging around the house.
Big disappointment!

5 stars because it corresponds to my needs : canister vacuum, small, light, handy, sucking, with bag - and I have a small studio so it doesn't need big work.
I had the Eureka 431BXZ Optima Lightweight Upright Vacuum Cleaner before (http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B000E7YLJK) and I was not satisfied: after a short time it was not sucking anymore and was uniformly spreading dust/hair on my mat without removing them. This vacuum was cheaper, but if it needs to replace the filters often no way .. Also it is a bagless vacuum and it was quite a mess to clean.
This one sucked all the hair and dust out of my mat!! It's a canister vacuum and is very compact - this is good because I have not much storage. At the same time I just find canister vacuum more convenient. This one is so light and small that you can carry it while vacuuming.
Now, it is quite cheap material (making it light) and it is not of high quality - it is perfect for my very small studio (if it keeps working well! - it's been 10 days I have it) but I would definitely not buy it to take care of a big place. For my use, totally satisfied.

This is a cautionary tale. If you have problems with your unit you may not be able to solve them with Dirt Devil. Here's the story:

I received my Breeze vacuum yesterday. It came very quickly (thanks Amazon) and looked spiffy and new even though it's a refurb model. When I tried to put it together I discovered that one of the two plastic wands had an obstruction that prevented it from locking into position.

I called Dirt Devil customer support and after the standard 7 minute wait I got a customer rep. At first she told me that my unit only had one wand. Then after pulling up some more information said that yes, one wand was bad. She told me I had to call a different line and make arrangements to drive to a service center and exchange the wand. She gave me the number. I actually hung up before realizing what she was asking me to do. As it turns out, the nearest service center is 21 miles away. That's a 42 mile round trip! This for a part that is sold by Dirt Devil for $2.68.

I called back. Seven minutes on hold. I talked to another rep. She told me the same thing. I asked to talk to a supervisor. Five minutes on hold. The supervisor tells me they will not send me a replacement wand. I have to drive to a service center. I ask to speak to her boss. She says fine and puts me on hold again. After 5 minutes on hold again I hung up.

Fortunately, Amazon makes it easy to return things. But what a frustrating experience.

This vacuum may be the best thing since sliced bread. I don't know. I haven't turned it on. All I know is that Dirt Devil didn't stand behind their product and didn't care what kind of hassle they caused me. So I'm giving Dirt Devil the one star rating. I don't know about the vacuum. Looks cute.

I'd been looking for a light weight vaccum to pick up small messes and to do the car ect. For these projects it's great but if your looking to purchase a vaccum for everyday use on a carpet then buy something better like an up-right. Customer Review: Excellent Vacuum- Major Improvement!

This little vac is awesome- quiet, efficient, and even nice to look at! We have a mix of area rugs and wood floors- this vac works great on both. The other tools are handy for vacuuming under furniture, window sills, etc. It's a huge improvement over our Hoover upright as far as how much dust it traps and keeps in the bag. I always felt like a lot of dust was escaping our old upright- it was obvious when the sun was shining through the windows! The Carina doesn't seem to emit much "blow-by" at all. The cord is plenty long enough for me (that was one of the few negative comments I had seen about this model), and the "reel in" feature is perfect. I would probably recommend getting the "turbo" tool if you are going to be vacuuming a lot of carpet.

Customer Review: Great Vacuum for bare floors with shedding pets

I have a small home mostly laminate floors and a few area rugs with two extreme shedders, one cat and one dog, and this vacuum picks up everything! My floors haven't ever felt so clean after sweeping. It's super quiet, lightweight enough for me and I'm seven months pregnant, has a telescoping handle so it's at a comfortable height, and gets under furniture easily and up next to my baseboards like a dream.

Did I mention how quiet this thing is? No need to raise up the volume on my music while cleaning and I could probably hold a phone conversation easily too!

It's incredibly easy to switch from bare floors to carpet, there are two switches on the cleaning head that you just press with your foot. Another great feature is the suction control up near the handle so if you get something stuck, corner of a rug, you just release the suction no need to turn of the vacuum.

It also has attachments, a turbo brush, which I used on my bedroom carpet and it was eh, I prefer the normal brush, plus there is no where to store the turbo head on the vacuum. A crevice tool which works well but is really narrow so it's for super tight spots and an upholstery brush which rocks, I was able to clean my couch and my curtains with it with no problem I just adjusted the suction.

My only complaint, besides not loving the turbo brush, is that there isn't an on/off switch in the handle, it's on the body of the machine, so if you want to turn it off to move something you have to do so at the canister.

Overall I've been using this vacuum for three weeks and it's been perfect. I couldn't recommend it enough.

vacuum works well on carpet and bare floors. One problem is you have to change the setting each time you sweep from floor to carpeting. Has a revolving brush which picks up pet hair well but needs to be removed by hand to keep head clean.Had a hard time getting dust bags. I had to order them from the Panasonic company. I am still waiting for the bags to arrive. Seems to have good suction.

Very practical addition to our household
We got this as a wedding gift 2 years ago, and it's proven to be a very practical and useful addition to our household. I've had rechargeable small vacuums before, but none of them have been as powerful as this one. We use it to clean up after home haircuts, after eating snacks while watching a DVD, and - of course - it's the perfect (cordless!) tool for a quick vacuum of the car. It also comes with a useful attachment for cleaning between and behind the cushions of our LR furniture. Because it's hand-held, it's also very useful vacuuming around the computer and peripherals. The charge is effective for up to 15 minutes. All in all, this is a practical, well-designed hand-held vacuum that makes cleaning those small daily messes that much easier.

Works for Me
After considerable research I am very pleased to report this Upright suits my every need. It tracks perfectly straight and sucks like no other I've had. The extension tube built-in to the handle is very convenient and easy to access. And the power cord recoil storage is such a time saver. Bag removal is clean, easy, and well designed. The one caution I have for potential buyers is the weight near the handle. I suspect most Ladies will dislike this characteristic. But as I said, it works for me.

Very nice toddler accessory
This little cleaner is easy to use, and so far works very well. I got some old juice stains and a cat barf stain out of the carpet right away. The detergent tank is eay to load and the dirty water tank is easy to empty.

I only have one minor gripe- I'm not sure it makes sense for this product to be cordless. I was worried at first that its 15 minute runtime with a 12 hour charge would be annoying. It really isn't, it doesn't take but a minute to remove a spot, and you aren't going to use this to clean a whole carpet. However, the manual recommends running the battery completely down before recharging, which means that either it's going to conk out on you when you're using it or that you have to just leave it on to run down when the battery is low. Not a big deal, but is that really more convenient than just using a cord?

Eureka 4700B Maxima Bagless Upright Vacuum

Motor burned up after just over a year
The Eureka Maxima Bagless worked fine... for about a year. The only downside is that it did not do a great job on bare floors, tended to blow light dust and dust bunnies away from it. Emptying the receptacle was pretty easy and I never had to replace the filter. Just kept cleaning it, which worked fine.

However... and that's why I gave this vacuum a poor rating, the motor just quit after just over a year. I took it to a repair shop and the repair cost would have been more than I paid for the vacuum. My previous vacuum was an old Hoover that I owned for nearly 20 years, without any problems. Not saying Hoover is better than Eureka, just that a motor should not burn up after just a year of use, and not that heavy a use at that.

I would not buy another one, though it's going to be tough to find one that does not have similar stories. Seems like most vacuums have problems these days.

Wow!!!
The quality of this handheld is evident upon opening the package, I was impressed at the quality of construction and fit and finish.

Upon use I found the suction to be incredible, especially neat was the adjustable access for different angles of use and the emptying and servicing to be straight forward and easy.

I highly recommend this to a potential purchaser, for the price you can't go wrong.

Great vacuum!
I bought this vacuum to simplify cleaning my carpeted stairs and was amazed at the dust it picked up on both my stairs and upholstered sofas. My previous dirt devil was unbelievably loud and apparently only picked up dog hair and anything visible on the surface. I also use this in my car. It's very light, not too loud, and has strong suction. A great buy!
